Here's a little something
from one of our previous visitors, 12 year old Amy, who chose to write about the
Centre for a school project about a memorable holiday ![]()
by Amy Hope

Last year I visited the QE2 Activity Centre. The activity centre is part of Manor Farm Country Park and named after the QE2 ship. It’s an activity centre for people who have someone in their family with a disability. It caters for people of all ages with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and other specific needs. My family and I were able to have a holiday doing things together that we wouldn’t normally be able to do.

We stayed in a fantastic triangular wooden cabin that was tucked away in the trees, but still had a great view of the QE2 centre. I went with my mum, my brother Jamie (who is autistic), my godmother Auntie Gerry and her son Jay. We did loads of activities like: Climbing walls, stream walks, zip-wires, canoeing, motorboats, archery, orienteering, survival skills, ropes courses, building giant catapults, team challenges, indoor games and lots more. While we were there, I made lots of new friends and so did the rest of my family! The staff were lovely and always there to help out.....apart from one who pushed me in a cold river! (With a life jacket on of course!) Some activities were very challenging and hard to achieve, but I gained self-confidence, new skills and some amazing memories. I would definitely want to go there again and would recommend it to anyone who wants to have loads of fun and doesn’t mind getting VERY dirty!!

Excellent work, Amy! (although actually the Centre was named after Her Majesty, not the boat.)
